Finding Penpal is an educational game for Korean as a foreign language. It is based on the concept of immersion, based on the process of language acquisition in children. The main character travels to a new world: Korea due to an invitation from his pen friend. Once there, it's a big surprise: the pen pal doesn't show up at the port as agreed. Now it's time to learn the language in order to find your way in the new world and, above all, to find your missing penpal.

We wanted to make learning a language an experience without school assessment.
The “punishment” of mistakes should also be eliminated. The learning pace should be determined by the user themselves without losing motivation. This is where the conversational agents should come in and be available to the player as helpers and reference persons.
We saw it as a logical step to integrate the speech recognition function into a language learning game, as this not only trains your reading, writing and listening comprehension, but also allows you to practice and improve your pronunciation.
Voice control is carried out using voice recognition built into Windows and responds via a C# script in Unity to previously defined keywords that are similar to the vocabulary in the game. When the vocabulary is mentioned in the correct context, the NPC responds with the next answer.
