"Moss garden? Fragrance garden?
What does the name of this garden mean?
Where should I go?"
Traditional botanical garden orientation maps are often difficult to understand for people who are not familiar with plants. Visitors get lost because they don't know where and how to find certain plants or are disappointed because some plants are only visible at certain times of the year: the maps depict a timeless place, but not its experience that changes with the seasons. With my maps for the botanical garden in Berlin, I would like to try to reduce this confusion by depicting the regular seasonal changes of the place and labeling the representative plants with pictograms on the time-specific maps.
On the back of themap, there are pictograms and photos of plants accompanied by brief descriptions. Additionally, the pictogram table indicates which plants are present in other seasons.
