The Korean restaurant “Maru” in Berlin offers dishes like
'ssam-bap'', ''bibimbap'', and ''so-maek'', which are unfamiliar to many German customers. As a result, the staff often had to explain how to eat these dishes verbally, yet many customers still struggled to understand. To address this issue, a menu was designed like an guide, featuring a character inspired by Maru’s owner, along with food illustrations and step-by-step instructions on how to enjoy the dishes.
A 20-year-old young man took over a Späti and filled the store with new and interesting items. However, due to the negative image of the Späti before he took ownership, customer visits remained low. To create a more approachable image for local residents, he wanted to have a character representing himself. After introducing a new sign and a display stand, the store began attracting more young customers. Of course, the biggest factor was the friendly personality of the owner.
